What are Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) classes all about?? Why should I take a class??

In a partnership with the National Council for Behavioral Health, Make Mental Health Matter hosts Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training across Colorado and virtually.

Mental Health First Aid is open to all and is for anyone wanting to help another person!

MHFA is now blended (full virtual and virtual/in-person) 2-hrs pre-course work and 5 or 6-hours virtual or 8-hours in-person training certification course which teaches participants a five-step action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions and secure appropriate care for the individual. The certification program introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact and overviews common treatments.

The CPR-like program effective in improving trainees’ knowledge of mental disorders, reducing stigma and increasing the amount of help provided to others.

Just like CPR and Medical First Aid is for everyone, Mental Health First Aid is also. Mental health challenges, such as depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance use, are shockingly common in the United States. In fact, more than one in five American adults will have a mental health problem in any given year.

The National Council for Behavioral Health certifies individuals throughout the nation, including Make Mental Health Matter, to provide Mental Health First Aid courses to prepare their communities with the knowledge and skills to help individuals who are developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.

Register today to take the Mental Health First Aid course. You could help save a life! #BeTheDifference

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Kelli was amazing. Made me feel that I would able to help a youth if needed. She was very available to answer questions we had.

Kelli was personable and receptive to participants' feedback. I would be happy to take another MHFA course with Kelli!

Kelli did a great job presenting, expecting responses, providing a safe environment and being clear on how to "take a moment" if anything triggered emotions in us.

Amazing class! I feel that I have learned a lot about how to approach a situation that may arise at any given moment.

Kelli was well spoken, encouraging and helpful. She was a good listener and responded kindly to all with relative information and suggestion.

Kelli was awesome, one of the best Zoom presenters I have had.

It was nice and enjoyable, a few little laughs helped as well.

Check out the curriculums that we offer. See which class is best for you and your community.
